Heritage Inventories

In order to explain the reasons for a Heritage Inventory being required we are attaching a copy of the official Heritage Western Cape document dated 16 March, 2016 relating to the compilation of approved Heritage Inventories in the Western Cape.  This includes the issues of Grading and the undertaking of a full Heritage Survey of all aspects of "heritage" in a designated area - in this case the Village of De Rust and the immediate District. 

 

The documents attached below explain in detail the various requirements and responsibilities by the parties involved including Heritage Western Cape, the Oudtshoorn Municipality as well the De Rust Heritage Conservation Association plus local property owners. 

 

The Greyton document is a practical approach from their Heritage Committee relating to their original Heritage Survey in 2016 with suggestions to De Rust Heritage on how to approach issues that could present problems in the future.  We would like to take this opportunity of thanking Michel Rouillard from Greyton Heritage for his invaluable input and assistance in this regard:
